well now.. i'm SO into heroic, dreamy-looking guys... look above!! that's wakamiya kyou...someone i'm really in love with now. haha.. and the male lead of the comic alice 19th by watase yuu sensei~~ this comic deserves special mention and credits...more into that laterah... ok so now i'm in this total story-telling mood...just like what i did for neon genesis evangelion. so.. it's the same thing.. spoilers ahead.. stay with me if u're interested.. if not.. sayonara. haha..
seno alice is a normal schoolgirl... 15 years old who's carrying a torch for wakamiya kyou (who wouldn't?!), a senior in her school. her elder sister, seno mayura is in the same archery club as kyou.. and... as if it's new... she's also in love with kyou! surprise! duhz.. anyway... kyou, being someone who's really slow at such things, is unfortunately not so clear about his own feelings but decided to date with mayura. alice of course is really really sad when she heard about this.
earlier... alice, who had always wanted to keep a pet but was unable to because mayura's allergic to fur, saw a little rabbit in the middle of the road. when a car approached, she couldn't help but run out and save that poor thing. she however ended up being unable to run away in time.. but kyou managed to save her just in the nick of time (kyou!! oh my god). that night... that rabbit suddenly transformed into a little cute girl with bunny ears.
she made known that she was nyokeza and had come to look for a lotis master.. someone who has the pure heart to summon a series of 24 words and battle the evil. at first, alice thought she was seeing things but eventually she accepted it and found out that because of her act to save the rabbit, she had already acquired the ability to summon courage.
after mayura and kyou went out for a while, mayura realized that alice also liked him secretly and that kyou might be realizing that he likes alice instead... after a confrontation, alice got so angry.. she screamed at mayura: "if you would just disappear!!" .. and indeed, she did! nyokeza explained that she was brought into her own Inner Heart and was consumed by it.. alice was very regretful and promised to save her using her power as a lotis master.
it was then realized that kyou was actually a lotis master as well. in their first battle against the inner heart of a guy who liked alice in a very possesive way... they managed to use their powers to defeat him. after a victory, a fellow lotis master, frey appeared out of nowhere and suddenly declared alice to be his future wife. frey was a very cheeky guy but quite a powerful lotis master.
mayura, who was very much living in the darker end of her inner heart then came back and appeared to be very normal. but she was actually threatening alice to stay away from kyou as far as possible. well.. by this time.. kyou had finally realized that alice was the one whom he truly liked.. he was however unknowingly cursed by mayura , which will kill him if alice ever confess his feelings to him(what a lame curse.)... alice who was by his side crying after knowing about the curse ran away but kyou grabbed her, confessed his own feelings first and kissed her! ooooh... watase sensei draws the nicest kissing scenes. haha...
unable to reciprocate his feelings, alice started to avoid him and when one day, he asked her about how she felt.. she said she forgotten.. then kyou kissed her again!! hahaa... man.. i'll do anything to get someone like kyou to kiss me.. hahaa... and said: "i'll never forget what happened..." (goodness... next time i'll get the japanese dialogue up here.. it's damn nice. haha). she was really tempted into saying out but ... then he felt pain in his chest.. and once again, alice can only cry and run away.
eventually, they realized that they will have to fight mayura and the maram master, who's the most evil of all.. with new partners like a really cute boy who's serious but goes ga-ga when he sees snacks, William something something something.. (he's of royal blood.. so he has a REALLY long name), meiling from china and bill from america.. together they have to face their own dark side and struggle to get out... nyokeza died though.. sad..
so finally... after defeating the maram master...everything went back to normal! mayura woke up and was no longer obsessed with kyou anymore.. and finally she could tell kyou she liked him.. then kyou said: "i like you too." and it's another beautiful kiss again....
haha.. why does this deserve credits? haha.. because i seldom read shoujo comics..given that i like action and too much romance just slows down everything and act as a very burdening sub-plot. this one's quite fine.. the romance part between kyou and alice didn't get too carried away and the one between frey & alice was never too detailed.. which brings me to my other reason for crediting it... it's short enough to not be as absurb as watase sensei's ayashi no ceres. sorry fans.. but.. ayashi no ceres had a good plot at first.. then as it went longer... it became way out of point.. maybe it's just me .. but i just think that eventually it's just crap. oops..sorry again.. and alice 19th doesn't have any sex scenes! haha.. ok perhaps they were too young. haha.
well at first, the swooning kyou may seem really like a jerk.. when he explained that he was actually unsure of what was going on when he first went out with mayura. that made me wanna kick him but then his devotion to alice after that was pretty much touching. when everyone in school harassed alice, saying that she was so mean to her own sister by snatching her boyfriend, kyou was very angry and snapped something like.. i was the one who liked her first, so if anyone dare touch her, i'll show no mercy... wow. i love it when heroes snapped. also there was when mayura was trying to diminish his affections by saying that alice didn't like him and things like that... then kyou said something like ... i know, she said she didn't feel anything for me but it's ok. because i will still like her. oh man.. *melt melt melt*. if this is being adapted into an anime.. i REALLY hope ogata megumi-chan will be kyou's seiyuu...the fact that megumi-chan is a lady with a mid-range voice adds gentleness yet prince-like touch to the character.. haha..
also... the story is suspiciously similiar to cardcaptor sakura, another personal favourite because of tsukishiro yukito.. hahaa... with the lotis master and everything.. and .. in terms of look, alice = aya, kyou = yuuhi, frey = tooya, mayura = suzumi and nyokeza = chidori, except cuter. so if anyone, like me, who's feeling bitter because aya never did end up with yuuhi.. here's the chance to feel more balanced. hahaa..
